drawing contrasts
Walking in, something stops you. A wire sculpture of a female form near the entryway. Almost industrial, with a soft curve that feels alive against the traditional molding. Dark hardwood floors. Soft fabrics layered through the room. Edge and elegance at the same time. Feminine and strong. Modern next to antique furniture. Works beautifully with the more angular pieces in the house. It makes me pause. Changes how I step into the space.
Part of curating a home is about where to draw contrasts. Hard and soft. Old and new. Each piece chosen for the way it speaks to the others. The parlor is slowly filling with art, books, and objects that reflect who I am. Pieces that carry memory. Pieces that carry life.
The wire sculpture is by Ella Almog. It’s one of my favorite pieces. Bold and minimal. Feminine and daring. It set the tone for how I think about layering objects in the space.
There’s a rhythm in it all. Layering textures. Layering shapes. Watching how the eye moves through the room. A quiet joy. A blessing. To see the space come alive. To see it become a home.
More soon,
